Franklin River

I was particularly impressed by the level of knowledge and professionalism exhibited by the river guides, Shaun and Anna. Whether it be tackling a difficult rapid, describing the fauna, flora and history of the area, preparing the campsite, producing amazing meals or subtly directing and supporting me in potentially dangerous situations, I always felt completely safe and comfortable.

Media Centre

Tasmanian Expeditions, (a division of World Expeditions) has been trusted by many journalists and film crews, from the mainland and across the world, to assist them when on assignment in the Tasmanian wilderness.

That’s because we are Tasmania’s most experienced trekking and adventure operator. Innovation and adventure has been at the heart of what we do for more than 35 years.

Our list of ‘firsts’ include:

  • The first operator of bushwalks on the legendary Overland Track in 1968 (as Craclair)
  • The first descent of the Franklin River in commercial white water rafts in 1978 (as Australian Himalayan Expeditions, now World Expeditions)
  • The first commercial trek on the South Coast Track and the Walls of Jerusalem
  • In recent years Tasmanian Expeditions has been the first to develop commercial treks into the Frenchman's Cap and the Western Arthurs and more recently, the Coast to Cradle trail
  • And in 2017 we launched a wilderness experience like no other - The Great Tasmanian Traverse, a five week journey covering the length of the Apple Isle from north to south.
