Franklin River

I was particularly impressed by the level of knowledge and professionalism exhibited by the river guides, Shaun and Anna. Whether it be tackling a difficult rapid, describing the fauna, flora and history of the area, preparing the campsite, producing amazing meals or subtly directing and supporting me in potentially dangerous situations, I always felt completely safe and comfortable.

Walking the Walls Of Jerusalem

Walls Of Jerusalem

With beautiful mountain scenery, unique flora and fauna and spectacular views across “the land of a thousand lakes”, the Walls of Jerusalem presents a world-class walking opportunity. Tasmania's only true alpine National Park was largely unaccessible to travellers in 2016 due to flooding, road closures and accessibility issues, Forestry Tasmania has announced that Mersery Forest Road, which provides access to the popular Walls of Jerusalem National Park, finally re-opened this month.

With two options to explore the Walls of Jerusalem, travellers can experience the pristine wilderness on a four day or six day trek through remote alpine herb fields and highland lake country.

Excellent camp sites by lakes, spectacular sunsets, diverse landscapes, knowledgeable and fun guides, we were well-fed...the list goes on!

The Walls of Jerusalem Circuit provided a wonderful experience with magnificent scenery and invigorating walking across some tough terrain. Our guides (Brenton and Matilda) were very well organised and adaptable to the conditions, very knoweldgeable about the flora and fauna and navigated seamlessly to some areas we could not have gone on our own. All in all a great trip and highly recommended with the proviso that to really enjoy the experience you need to be fit enough to comfortably carry a full backpack.

Pristine and pure, the lakes and landscapes of the Walls of Jerusalem are a treasure. With perfect blue skies we could see forever from the peaks and summits, seeing Cradle Mountain in the distance and thousands of lakes over the central plateau. Our friendly easy going guides kept us safe, informed and well fed throughout this very enjoyable trek. Thank you Ashton, Holly and Paul for showing us this very special part of Tassie and your fondness for this area added to the experience.
