Carrying only a day pack, we explore one of the largest cool temperate wilderness areas in the world. Between Cradle Mountain and Lake St. Clair, we discover a history of mining and railways, visit pristine waterfalls and spend a night at the charming fishing village of Strahan. We climb Cradle Mountain to admire the 360º panorama of Tasmania's highest mountains, walk beside the state's deepest lake and discover cool temperate rainforest squeezed between deep dark waters and towering spires. An indulgent half-day cruise on the Gordon River provides a great mid-journey change of pace. Each night we will stay in simple but comfortable cabins along the way. Our experienced and friendly guides look forward to sharing with you these wonderful day walks in the highlands and on the west coast.
