Transfers between your hotel and the briefing will be provided. Once you have been checked in, the full group will come together in the evening for a Welcome Dinner at one of our favourite local dining spots. Overnight: Peppers Silo Launceston

Meals:  Nil

Our adventure begins when we pick you up from your accommodation in historic Launceston between 7-7:30am and drive south-east through picturesque farming country to the magnificent Freycinet National Park. Our walks today follow undulating track around the pink-granite foothills of The Hazards mountain range. Group 1: This trail will afford us with tranquil views of Great Oyster Bay and meanders through coastal she-oak forests before reaching Hazards Beach, a fantastic place to take a load off, enjoy a snack and perhaps have a leisurely swim in the crystal clear waters. We trek the length of Hazards Beach then follow the track around a headland, through coastal heath and woodlands of Blue gum and Peppermint gums, rich in birdlife. In the afternoon we reach our sheltered camp at Cooks Beach and settle in with a hot drink and pre-dinner nibbles. Your guides will prepare a delicious dinner while you soak in the serenity and beauty of the National Park. Group 2: A short ascent will bring us to the ever-popular Wineglass Bay lookout, which points along at exceptional views of Mount Graham, Mount Freycinet and the bay, as well as the opportunity to spot whales as they migrate past the coast. After the lookouts, you will arrive at Wineglass Bay beach, which is secluded and usually much less crowded. The beach is a terrific place for a snack and a swim in the teal-blue waters. The steps going up and down the mountain saddle in each direction can be quite challenging, but your beachside campsite awaits at the other end of the beautiful white sandy beach. Walking Distance: 13km / 5km | Walking Time: 4-5 hours / 3 hours

We have early start this morning to ensure we make the most of the challenging day ahead. After packing up our camp we rejoin the trail and begin our climbs. This section of track involves a total climb of over 500m. The walk through heathland, woodland and wet forest, will be gradual at first and then steepen up to the saddle between Mt Freycinet and Mt Graham. Ascending Mount Graham is steep and challenging, but the views we are rewarded with looking back towards the coast are spectacular, including amazing views south to the southern end of Freycinet Peninsula and Schouten Island. Here the the entire group will be able to come together and share the experience over a hearty lunch spread, prepared by the guide team, ready for the climbs back to camp. Time permitting, a climb to the top of Mount Freycinet (620m) may be offered as a side trip and is definitely worthwhile as it offers the highest and encompassing view within the National Park. Tonight we will switch sides on the peninsula, to enable each hiker the chance to cover every step of the full Freycinet Circuit. Walking Distance: 11km | Walking time: 6-8 hours

(Reverse of Day 2) Group 1: This morning will be another early start as we aim to leave camp at 7:30am, to complete the climb back up to the carpark. After a scrumptious breakfast, we will take the short ascent up to the Wineglass Bay lookout points, where we can take in a final look across and down at the bay. Here there will be a chance to get your postcard-worth photographs and reflect on everything you've accomplished over the past few days. Group 2: An early start to the day will be needed too to get back to the trailhead in time for your transfer back to Launceston. We be up leaving camp at 7:00am and will walk north, meandering through the she-oak forests, as we look to rendezvous with the rest of the group mid-morning. Be sure to keep any eye out for dolphins in the bay as the morning sun creeps up over the Hazards and bringing Oyster Bay to life! Once both groups have made it back to trailhead at around 10:30am, we will transfer directly back to Launceston airport in time for your afternoon flights home.
