Our Story

How we became Tasmania's leading adventure travel company

About Us

A place like no other on earth, Tasmania is truly an island of contrasts. Its alpine plateaus, deep forests, hidden waterfalls, wild rivers, craggy coastlines, pristine beaches and unique wildlife paired with vibrant cities and charming small towns rich in history, art, food and culture, offer the complete travel experience.

For more than 40 years, it's been our passion at Tasmanian Expeditions to create memorable, responsible and experience-rich adventure itineraries that allow travellers to explore the remote, rugged and iconic parts of our incredible island.

Founded in the late 1960s as Craclair Walking Tours, and operating  as Tasmanian Expeditions since 1989 we now own and operate the most comprehensive range of adventure holidays available across Tasmania's varied landscapes, from trekking the iconic Overland Track to rafting through the deep gorges, quiet pools and magnificent temperate rainforests along the Franklin River or cycling through sleepy fishing villages along the stunning East Coast.

We believe that visiting a destination requires really getting out there and exploring. It's not just about where you go, it's how you go.

If you're sitting reading my review on The Overland Track Trip, your not out there living life! Go book it! Thanks Ben and Pip for a great time with many laughs! The ever changing scenery was lovely and I had a great time.
